Rev. Stephen Bickel
Senior Adult PastorStephen was born in Jefferson City and a graduate of Jefferson City Senior High School. He was licensed to the ministry from Immanuel Baptist Church, Jefferson City and ordained by First Baptist Church, Portageville, Missouri. He earned a Bachelor of Science-Music Degree from University of the State of New York and a Master of Divinity Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His wife, Carolyn, a retired high school English/Drama teacher also earned a degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Religious Education. Stephen and Carolyn are parents of five adult children living in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Norway. They are also proud grandparents to nine grandchildren.
Stephen has served churches in Missouri, Massachusetts, Florida and North Carolina over the past 57 years as Pastor, Minister of Music, Education, Youth and Missions. His denominational service include Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board, Chairman of Baptist Convention of New England Executive Committee, Missouri Baptist Home Trustee, various Association positions, and mission trips to Alaska, Taiwan, Belarus and Brazil.
Stephen’s love is time with his wife, family, traveling and being an avid sports fan of baseball, football and basketball.
His ministry objective is to be a faithful and committed servant of God leading others to a personal relationship with Christ.
A favorite verse includes “…we are ambassadors for Christ…be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
